The works for hanging must be delivered to

Gardens
on Monday, October 27, 2008 between 12:30 and 1:00.
Picking up Unsold Work:
Artists must pick up their work at the conclusion
of the show.
Artists must take the responsibility to ensure someone
collects their work.
Any work left uncollected will be charged a
$12.00/day packing and storage fee.
Juror:
Lillian Fitzgerald, Founder and Director of Fitzgerald
Fine Art and Exhibit Specialist for the U.S. Botanic Garden.

Eligibility:
Artists must be current members of BASNCR
Subject and Media:
Botanical Art, Botanical Illuminations, subject
matter appropriate to Natural Science Illustration.
Any 2-dimensional, hand-applied media such as
watercolor, oil, acrylic, gouache, colored pencil,
graphite, pen and ink.
Artwork must have been completed within the past
five years, and should not have been previously
exhibited at Green
Springs
Gardens.
Only original works will be accepted.
There is no size limitation but artists should be
aware that smaller pieces tend to sell more frequently.
Submissions:
Up to five pieces of work in CD format or submitted via
email.
Digital files should be scanned at 300 or360 dpi, image
8” high (2880 pixels), jpg, (no jpg photos will be
accepted) and submitted on CD labeled with artist’s
name, artwork title, medium, framed size; likewise,
email transmission should also include artist’s name,
artwork title, medium and framed size.
CDs will be returned only if a self addressed,
stamped mailing envelope is included with submission.
Submission fee:
The fee to submit up to five entries is $25.00,
payable to BASNCR.

Sales:
All work must be for sale.
Green Springs takes 15% of sales before taxes.
Only cash or checks are accepted by the Garden.
Monies are paid to the artist who is then
responsible for paying the commission to Green Spring.
Artist must assume responsibility for paying
Virginia
Sales tax (5%).
One time tax forms will be available to artists.
Presentation:
All works must be presented in quality matting
and framing.
No metal frames.
Accepted work must be ready to hang with screw
eyes or appropriate hangers and wires; no sawtooth
hangers will be accepted.
Glass or Plexiglas is acceptable.
Juror and Hanging Committee reserve the right to
refuse any work with inappropriate framing.

Exhibiting artists must provide an artist’s
statement or brief bio.
Artists may choose to include personal contact
information in this statement for interested clients.

FLORAL EXPRESSIONS IN STONE
AND PRINT
The National
Agricultural Library and local sculptor John Jayson
Sonnier, have teamed to mount an exhibition featuring
stone botanical sculptures paired with companion prints
from the Library’s Rare Book Collection. From the 18th
and 19th
century illustrations, to modern sculptures, visitors
will observe an engaging medley of botanical subjects
rendered in two distinct media. Open May 19 –August 29,
2008.

lead a tour of his garden featuring medicinal and other
herbs, 10:30–12 noon.
